While it’s overwhelmingly a great console, there are no shortage of small irritations which detract from the overall PS5 experience. One that’s been irking this author irrationally for months now is how the wishlist displays discounts. It really shouldn’t be a difficult concept: if you’ve flagged a game as one you’re interested in, you should be notified when it goes on sale.
To be fair, typically with the PlayStation app, you’ll be sent a PUSH message informing you that a game you want to buy has been discounted. But what’s causing particular frustration for this writer is that when you view the wishlist and sort by price, PS Plus Premium trials are displayed at the top. There’s no way to actually see if the game is on sale and for how much without manually clicking through to its game page.
Obviously it’s great that a PS Plus Premium demo is available, but seeing as these tend to top out at two or three hours maximum, it’d be more valuable to know the actual price of the game. It’s insane that you have to check this manually rather than just browsing down the list, and it’s something we can’t believe hasn’t been fixed yet. Get it together, Sony!

I'm guessing this is an issue if you are subscribed to PS Premium, because I only have Essential and don't see this problem on my wishlist.
Ayye, return of the Misaka thumbnail : D
Also these more personal rants are always a fun read! xD
I can only promise one thing, Sony will never get it together especially when it comes to stuff like that.
So many small, yet annoying logical flaws in the store, the console ui and so on.
Sonys back end engineers are trash.
Yeah, it's a tiny issue indeed.
@NoHope Sony's spent the last three console generations improving its console UIs, and yet with each new system it's felt like two steps forward, two steps back. The PS5 in particular has loads of weird interface quirks that make it awkward to navigate.
You do get used to it when you use the console as much as people on this website tend to, but I've seen family members and friends really struggle with it.
Lots of niggly issues like this. It bugs me that some titles that I've previously downloaded on PS+ can be purchased "to keep" but others cannot.
In a recent sale, Ghost of Tsushima was reduced but was only available to me at full price, again because I'd previously downloaded it. I contacted PS support who said there's nothing they can do whilst my subscription is active.
Having had PS+ from day one, I'm definitely going back to Essentials from next month. Personally, I'd rather have a Basic tier that only offers cloud storage and store discounts, and do away with the monthly games/catalogue.
I just use Deku Deals.
I haven’t used the PlayStation Store (or the Nintendo eShop) for browsing or searching for games for years now. The site gives you pretty much all the sorting and search parameters you could ever want. It’s not perfect, but it’s leagues better than any of the console storefronts.
Not saying that we shouldn’t complain about these issues — we should expect better of them — but at least it’s a solution until the unlikely event of improvements to the store.
I honestly thought I was the only one driven to irrational anger by this. It's good to know that I'm not alone.
I hate this with a passion. Is it a big problem? No. Is it annoying as hell? Yes! Aaargh
Yeah I jump trough these hoops as well all the time.
Yeah, it's really annoying.
My other favourite irksome issue is when doing downloads. A game is playable after part downloading, the Pause download button gets replaced by the Play button so my muscle memory opens the game instead of pausing the download. Argh!
You know what else is annoying? If you purchase something BEFORE taking it off the wish list, it stays on there but you can’t then unheart it. My wishlist of full of games that say ‘Purchased’ instead of a price!
@FinneasGH I had this yesterday. I had Alan Wake 2, the deluxe edition, and the deluxe upgrade in my wishlist so I could grab whatever worked out cheapest. Bought the base game and the upgrade in the sale, they both came off my wishlist, but the deluxe edition was stuck on the saying purchased. I managed to remove it by going to the store via browser in my laptop instead.
I thought I just took a few games off of my Wishlist last night on my PS5 but I suppose I could be misremembering @FinneasGH Were you on the App, website, or PS5? I was on all 3 b/c I couldn't recall my password so was trying to purchase something any way possible. 😜
Edit: Just checked on my PC web browser and the games are off the list. Then it dawned on me you might have one of the PS+ levels, which I currently don't, so maybe that has something to do with it? 🤷♂️
Thought this article might be about the lack of PS app notifications. I used to get them almost weekly whenever a game on my Wishlist went on sale but I hadn't gotten one for awhile. Looked at my Wishlist last night and 2 or 3 games were on sale.
I actually bought FF8 "Remastered" (couldn't even be bothered to make it widescreen 😝) b/c it was on sale FOR ONLY 4 MORE HOURS and the FOMO got me & my wife. I told my wife we could just put our PS1 discs into our PS3 that we use to play blurays but she was like "but 3x speed", so purchased. Which I probably would have done 2 weeks ago when it went on sale but Sony never told me, which was my point.
@Impossibilium
Deku Deals is fantastic, and if you're someone like me who has multiple consoles, all the information is in one place. No need for multiple wishlists. Plus it shows the sales history, so you can see how often the game goes on sale or if you're actually getting a good deal
@rjejr On the phone app, I don’t have a browser I can use. I’ll try on the console store then and see if I can remove it, I don’t think I’ve ever looked on it!
I guess my point is consistency in access. Shouldn’t have different functionality based on the method of how to access it.
This isn't news this is an opinion ...
In the last 10 hrs you guys wrote about:
Push Square woke up, saw a slow day and chose negativity today LOL.
Never had that problem - might be a PS Plus Super Ultimate Top Tier Edition (or whatever they call it) problem.
What bugs me is that there are screenshots and videos for some games some of the time - but ONLY on the console and never in the web/app version of the store.
At the moment, my wishlist is broken on the web store, so I can't even test anything out. Good work, Sony.
YES!!! This has been a pet peeve of mine. Especially not being able to see the price easily from the wish list screen when it’s on PS+.
I just use PSPrices. That's it, the ps store is pure garbage and used only to buy the games.
I've totally given up on using any of the wishlist functionality of any of the current consoles. I just use DekuDeals. It tracks retail prices, digital prices, and can show you the price history of games as well.
@ShogunRok Yeah I still prefer the PS4 interface.
@Olmaz Same. The wishlist is good for upcoming games, but once they're released I remove them and track on PSprices.com instead.
@doctommaso Agreed. I would rather see what my friend list is up to than what some random streamer uploaded.
This drives me absolutely nuts as well. I hope someone at Sony sees this article
I only ever seeen to buy DLC nowadays because at least that way I know I won't wind up wasting money on a game that is being added to Sony's subscriptions. If you really want to save on money, always focus on buying the ultimate edition on sale or just bide your time and wait for it to hopefully drop on the sub.
@FinneasGH THIS!
I'm fed up of being told that a game I bought 12 months ago is on sale for the 12th time 🤣
@DaveScoffin @FinneasGH click the three dots in the store on the console which is still a pain.
Yeah a lot of minor problems with the wishlist and sales, which on their own are very minor, but add up to be fairly annoying.
Delayed wishlist notifications are annoying, but sometimes I get none at all. Like this latest sale I have some of the games on my list and I didn't get anything.
On the flip side, I've had a weird glitch where I got notifications like every 20 mins.
I’m just excited I can put the console into rest mode without it freaking so hard you need to unplug it from the wall and TV to fix. That was a fun launch quirk that lasted a year or two.
A wee bit off topic, but in the same overall UI chat, I’d love to see the option to filter all menus by star rating. I find the user ratings on PSN quite reliable, and would be fascinated to see what the highest rated games are.
What is annoying is that you have to add EVERY VERSION of a game to your wishlist in case one of them is on offer, and the others aren't.
I wanted Avatar FoP, but had to add the standard, gold, deluxe and ultimate editions to get notified that one of them was on sale.
Yeah, this.
And also: Why is the wishlist limited to 100 titles?!
I'm glad I'm not alone in this issue
Has there been anyone else find some crossbuy PS4/5 games occupy their wishlists even after adding both versions to their library thus needlessly taking up one of their woshlist allotment....annoying when you're limited to 99 maximum or whatever it is!🤔
